Excursion to the Ouzoud waterfalls

The highest waterfalls in Morocco, among the olive trees

The Ouzoud waterfalls drop about 110 metres, in several cascades, into a red-earth gorge. All around are olive trees, small mills and wild monkeys.

It's a day in nature, far from the bustle of the city. Your driver takes you there, and you explore the site freely.

What you'll see

The falls

You first see them from above, then walk down a path to the foot of the waterfalls. On sunny days, rainbows form in the spray.

The monkeys

Barbary macaques live freely around the site. You often come across them on the path, in the trees.

The foot of the waterfalls

At the foot of the falls, small boats take you close to the water. Terraces let you have lunch facing the waterfalls.

Our tips

Wear good shoes

The path down to the foot of the waterfalls has steps and slippery sections. Closed trainers are essential.

Don't feed the monkeys

They are used to visitors, but they are still wild. Keep your bags closed and watch them without touching.

Come in spring

After the winter rains, the waterfalls are at their most beautiful. At the end of summer, the flow is weaker.

Save some energy for the climb back up

Going down is easy. Coming back up is harder, so take your time.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be fit?

An average level of fitness is enough. The path has steps, especially on the way back up. You can also just enjoy the view from the top.

Can we bring children?

Yes, children love the monkeys and the boats. Hold the little ones' hands near the water and on the steps.

What is the best season?

Spring, for the flow of the waterfalls and the greenery. In summer, it's cooler than Marrakech, but busier.

How do I book?

Write to us with the date you'd like and the number of people. We organise everything with our partners and agree on the departure time with you. Book at least 48 hours in advance. After that, the full price of the excursion is due, even if you cancel.

Can I take part if I'm not staying at the riad?

No. Our excursions are reserved for Riad Malika guests.

Fancy more time in the mountains?

If you love the Atlas, stay there for a few nights. Our Domaine Malika is in Ouirgane, in the High Atlas, an hour from Marrakech. Guided hikes, Berber villages, a pool heated all year round. Many of our guests combine a few nights at the riad and a few nights at the Domaine.
